Every protein has unique characteristics so it would be impossible for one reagent to work for any possible protein. However, modern reagents are really efficient and work well with most proteins. You should determine the optimal conditions for your protein by optimizing the ratio of reagent to protein and that will probably allow you to transfect it effectively. Even if it doesn’t work you should try it before buying a new reagent that works specifically for your new protein.
