Brain-Heart Infusion broth (BHI - Oxoid) was made using 37 g of powdered media/L and supplemented with hemin (Sigma-Aldrich) to a final concentration of 10 µg/mL and β-nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (β-NAD) to a final concentration of 2 µg/mL.
