Publication protocol

Spin column-purified products were ligated into the pCR4 vector with a Topo TA cloning kit and transformed into Oneshot Top10 competent cells according to the manufacturer's protocol (Invitrogen, Carlsbad, CA). Plasmid DNAs from kanamycin-resistant clones were prepared using a High Pure plasmid isolation kit (Roche, Indianapolis, IN) and sequenced to verify the identities of the cloned PCR products (ABI 377 automated sequencer at Advanced Genetic Analysis Center, University of Minnesota).
