Transformation of strain IMX031 with the URA3-bearing mhpF-expression plasmid pUDE43 (Guadalupe Medina et al., 2010) yielded the prototrophic, Gpd– mhpF-expressing strain IMZ160. Plasmid(s) were isolated from S. cerevisiae IMZ333 with the Sigma GenElute plasmid miniprep kit (Sigma-Aldrich Chemie Gmbh, Munich, Germany) according to manufacturer's instructions.
