Publication protocol

For the extraction of plasmid DNA, a single colony from each isolate was used to inoculate 5 ml broth medium overnight at 37°C. Bacterial cells were lysed and plasmid DNA was purified using the QIAprep spin miniprep kit (Qiagen, Valencia, CA) as per the manufacturer's instructions
