These experiments were repeated at lower density cell concentrations (2x10^5), and incubation times extended for 4, 8, 16, 24, and 48 hours to see how the crosslinks were repaired over time (n¼4).

Publication protocol

Drugs were removed, and cells were incubated for another 3 hours to allow for crosslink formation. Cells were exposed to 900 rads (X-Rad 160 X-ray biological irradiator), and alkaline comet assays were performed immediately (Trevigen Inc.) in the manner described by Chen and colleagues. Experiments were repeated 5 times and data were combined and analyzed. These experiments were repeated at lower density cell concentrations (2x10^5), and incubation times extended for 4, 8, 16, 24, and 48 hours to see how the crosslinks were repaired over time (n¼4).
